Posąg Ramzesa II w świątyni luksorskiej

Za pylonem świątyni znajduje się dziedziniec festiwalowy na którego dalszym krańcu można podziwiać dwa potężne posągi przedstawiające siedzącego na tronie Ramzesa II. Posągi królów często flankowały wejścia do kolejnych części świątyń, będąc niejako ich strażnikami, a także jasnym świadectwem tego, kto jest fundatorem danej części lub całości budowli.

Behind the pylon of the temple there is a festival courtyard, at the far end of which you can admire two huge statues of Ramesses II sitting on the throne. The statues of kings often flanked the entrances to subsequent parts of temples, serving as their guards, as well as a clear testimony of who is the founder of a given part or the whole of the building.
